Minecraft Mods with Forge

Have you ever wanted to learn how to create Minecraft mods with Forge?  Well, then you have come to the right place.  Creating Minecraft mods can be a lot of fun, but it can also be very frustrating.  The big problem with learning about Minecraft mods is that there are very few good sources of good information.  There is no definitive documentation, except maybe for the source code itself.  There are YouTube videos, but you could spend a great deal of time with those, and there is a lot of variability with the quality, and of course, you will need to have a high tolerance for swearing.

In this tutorial we are going to learn how to create a custom Minecraft mod that will allow you to have a set of super powerful tools and weapons, made of a new material, Red Diamond.  You will learn how to set up the development environment and then use it to create a new mod, finally to create a deployable package.  Let’s jump right in and get started.

The tutorial has fully working source code available on GitHub, so if you ever get into trouble, you can just refer to that.  Also, the discussion will be broken down into easy to understand sections.

  1. Getting Your Environment Setup
  2. Mod Structure
  3. Custom Tool Material
